Been crazy busy these days lately but I made good sales after the 3 day exhibit. Good thing that I tied up with one of the galleries here to sell and display my prints. I think I made a good deal, a good start for a rookie like me.

First Photo Exhibit

About a year ago, I took the time to sit down and look at all my photos collectively shot in my point and shoot camera. I was impressed to see a number of shots that I was proud of. It was then that I realized I can be a photographer but I just didn't have the technical know-how.

I went out and bought myself a decent DSLR and began learning all about it. Aperture, depth of field, shutter speeds, composition and so on. I read everything I could and took photos of anything I could think of. Then a month later I decided to study Digital Photography at the New York Institute of Photography and recently graduated last August.

Since then my technical abilities have improved vastly and I feel I am coming to a new phase in my photography career, it's not just a simple hobby anymore. It's time to upgrade into another dimension.

I know this probably sounds really pretentious but in the past few weeks, I've been busy preparing for my first exhibition here in the U.S, not a solo act though, since I'm displaying with three other artist but mine is the only photo exhibit. I've been stressed and excited at the same time. I know I am still fairly amateur.....but it's a good start for me.

I've pushed myself through the threshold of finishing the processing of my photos. I'm excited about the opportunity to have my work seen by the public. I have been a little apathetic about my own photography, mainly because I took so many photos and haven't really made time to post-process and print them.

But with this exhibition, I have had to look through my photos to choose what's going to go into my portfolio of work. During my travels I have taken thousands of photos, only a small portion of which have been published on this blog.

There are going to be 15 images of 8.5 X 11 prints on display with a range of themes from landscape to macro photography. And all images are for sale. After this exhibit, all my prints will be displayed and sold in one of the galleries here.

I'm really excited about seeing my prints under spotlights....and hoping that people will like them.

Bunso: Kuya malapit na birthday ko!

Coldman: Ako na bibili ng cellphone mo.

2007

Bunso: Kuya malapit na birthday ko!

Coldman: Pa-brace na lang natin yung ngipin mo.

2008

Bunso: Kuya malapit na birthday ko!

Coldman: ( Kinutuban) Oo nga, 18 ka na ngayon... Ano gusto mong regalo?

Bunso: Wag na kuya....

Coldman: Owwss?!

Bunso: Love mo naman ako di ba?

Coldman: Okay, alam ko namang gusto mong mag debut...

Bunso: Love you Kuya!

Hirap pala pag-nagiisa ang kapatid mo, nagiging mabait ka.

Sulat mula kay Kuya

Bunso,

Ang bilis ng panahon di ko namamalayan dalaga ka na pala. Parang kailan lang tinuturaan pa kitang maglakad at nakikipaglaro pa ako ng taguan. Alam mo bang napakasaya ko ng dumating ka, matagal kasi kaming naghintay.

Naaalala ko pa tuwing nagpapaturo ka sa akin, lagi kong pinipitik ang daliri mo pag di mo naintindihan at bigla ka na lang iiyak, sorry medyo masungit ako pero bumabawi naman ako kaagad. Alam mo namang nabago ko na ang pagiging masungit ko noon, lagi ng naka- smile ang kuya ngayon.

Matagal na rin kitang di nakikita pero alam mo namang nandito lang ako, kaya nga lagi kitang tinatawagan. Alam mo bang nagtampo ako, noong sinabi mong may boyfriend ka na? Di ko alam pero nalungkot ako, ganun pala yun. Hindi ko naisip na dalaga ka na at marami ng nanliligaw sa yo.

Ganunpaman, salamat at di ka naglihim sa akin at salamat at di mo pinapabayaan ang pag-aaral mo. At sana wag mong kalimutan ang mga payo ko sa yo. Kung minsan man nagagalit ako, alam mo namang para sa kabutihan mo rin yun.

Sayang at wala ako diyan ngayon para man lang maisayaw ka sa importanteng araw mo. Kung proud ka kay kuya, mas proud ang kuya sa yo.

Andito lang lagi ako para sa yo.

O siya, baka maiyak pa ako.

The not so KJ Mr. Coldman
