Day 1: Taos and Santa Fe

I spent half day in Taos (Julia Roberts lives here) a very small town but a welcome escape for tourist . The town is designed with adobe houses, shops and if you are an art lover like me, you will enjoy this place because it has over 65 galleries to walk around.

We also stopped briefly at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, a breathtaking drop of 650 feet where the river cuts a narrow slice in the earth, literally. One of the locals told me that this bridge is the number one suicide site in the southwest. Hmmm... a bit scary. Lol

Next stop- Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico. I've been to the most key cities here in the US but Santa Fe is very unique. The plaza has a charming small-town feel, with all the main shops and old buildings within walking distance of each other, and the distinctive adobe architecture is used almost universally (I don't know if it's a regulation of their local government )- houses are painted in subtle, with characteristic clay walls and protruding wooden ceiling posts. Banks, restaurants, art galleries, the police station, even the local McDonald's - all are built in the same style. Very cool!

I really enjoyed walking around and taking pictutes like a dorky tourist, everybody is doing it anyway! The streets are fascinating to explore, (more of an arts market) with narrow passageways and are often decorated with bunches of fiery red dried chillies and other local crafts.

By the way, 3:10 to Yuma was filmed in and around Santa Fe. (as if may interesado!) Hahaha!

Although, most of the place are like "ghost town" to me still NM has a lot to offer.

Disfruté de este viaje!

Boy Next Door No More

I have a big problem right now. Big, since I continuously gaining weight. Also, I noticed that I get tired easily and exhausted after walking up stairs.

Okay, this has got to stop. I have to stop feeling like a tub of lard and start eating healthier and (shudder) do more exercise. My pants are feeling too tight for comfort and generally, I feel fat and gross. This affects me in a huge way. I don’t feel sexy, and when I don’t feel good I certainly don’t dress to impress. And my confidence (already so little to start off with) takes a nose dive.

In as much as I would like to go to the gym, I think it's much better for me if I do it at home so I bought a set of dumbbells yesterday to start this crazy but smart idea. Lol!

This isn’t about dropping loads of weight, it’s about me feeling good. So, in an effort to be healthier, here are a couple (minor) changes that I want to make and follow-through with and see, in the next 3 months, whether or not this has made a big difference in how I feel.

Hope I can do it religiously. As the said, it's just a matter of self-discipline.

Project Name: From Boy Next Door to Hunk (just kidding!)

1. Eat cereals or bread instead of rice for breakfast.

2. Walk at least 30 minutes at the park everyday or every other day after work.

3. No more sodas. Drink more water instead.

4. Have at least 20 crunches everytime I get up to bed.

5. I will think of Ronald Mcdonald as my enemy and I will not trust him (but there's a possiblity of reconciliation)

6. I will stop eating Dreyer's ice cream after dinner or maybe I could limit it to once? On Fridays?! but I'll still eat chocolates once in a while (I can't give up this one)

7. Walk instead of drive if I am going to the local grocery stores and church. ( I'll save fuel also)

8. I can't give up eating rice but I'll try to eat them only in dinner or lunch.

9. Eat more organic foods and fruits.

10. I'm going to do dumbbell exercises and other workouts at least thrice a week.

11. I will not sit too long after eating.

12. No more junk foods. (or probably eat them once in a while also)

13. Isn't sex a good exercise? Hahaha! (joke!)

To encourage myself more I probably post my half naked (kapalmuks!) body after 3 months to see if there's an improvement of what I am doing. But this is just a thought, so don't take it seriously. =)

Ang Noypi Sa US

Anong gusto mong kainin? Drinks? Sex? (dyuk lang 'to!)

10.You never order room service. Pustahan?

12.You say "Ha?" instead of "What?" o kaya mahilig ka sa "kuwan" at "ano".

14. Ang mahiwagang "tabo" sa banyo. (100% 'to).

15. Pagkatapos magpapicture, mapa camera phone man o digicam sasabihin mong- Patingin!

Focused

Since I've been so assiduous with my work for the last few months, I've neglected my photography class for a while. The school just continue to send me books, DVD's and CD's and too bad I only just read a few of them. I have so many photo projects and I haven't submitted any pictures for them to criticize.

Last week, I talked to my instructor regarding the delay of my photo shoot and also asked him for his expertise regarding macro lens.( I only have 18-55 mm lens which is a wide angle lens) . He recommended the Canon EF-100 mm or 180 mm macro lens which is widely used for macro photography.

Immediately, I went online to check for the price of the these lens and surprisingly they are expensive. Too bad! The Canon EF 180 mm macro lens is twice the price of my camera itself.

In the next 2 days, I keep on thinking to buy one and since my instructor told me that buying one of these lens is a good investment for professional photography, perhaps I should get one.

As I mentioned to my previous post, I have the sickness of buying what I want whenever it strikes me. The next day as expected, I went to the camera shop to buy one. I finally decided to get the Canon EF 180 mm macro lens. Adding to my decision aside from doing extreme macro, is that it's also an excellent long telephoto lens for all round general photography. Be it for portraiture, scenic, nature, and industrial applications.

The only disadvantage that I noticed right now is its weight- it's quite heavy and somewhat too sensitive to focus. But overall, I am greatly satisfied.

Here are my test shots!

By the way, these flowers will be delivered to those bloggers who inspired me. I don't want to drop names but I will send them to you soon.

Nah! I'm just kidding!

Seriously, these flowers are dedicated to all the moms in the world, most especially to my Pinakamamahal na Nanay. Happy Mother's day!

Nay, I'm so grateful and blessed for having you in my life. Yes, I am the luckiest man alive! Thank you and I love you so much!

Realization

$ 3.49 per galon (Midgrade) = 146 Pesos

(Bigla kong na-miss yung palabok at chicken joy!)

Hahaha!
