In my cold hands

Paintings have a life of their own that derives from the painter's soul"

Loneliness: Oil on Canvas

Aspen: Acrylic on Canvas

Someday my happy arms will hold you
and someday I'll know that moment divine
When all the things you are
are mine.... all mine
All mine.

Para naman akong Psycho sa tulang 'to! Hahaha!

Two babies born on the same day, in the same year with the same mother and father are not twins!
Paano kaya nangyari yun?

At dahil may tatlong henyong nakasagot agad ng puzzle ko kailangan ko na itong pahirapan.....

Kanina lang sa isang chinese restaurant dito.
Waitress: Do you speak Chinese?
Coldman: No. Just English
Waitress: Aren't you Chinese?
Coldman: No.
Waitress: Do you speak Mandarin?

Natawa ako, ang kulit ni Ate!

Coldman: I'm a Filipino.
Waitress: Ahh... how about Min Nan?

Muntik na talaga akong mag-tumbling kanina! Ang kulit! Naka-drugs ata! Hahaha!

Welcome to Denver

I've been in the most key cities like New York, Chicago, Boston, Atlantic City and LA but downtown Denver is one of my favorites. Why? I've never seen a street so clean in my life and one more thing the place is not crowded.

Streets are lined with outdoor cafes, renovated historic office buildings, sparkling glass-walled skyscrapers, shops, restaurants and department stores.
It's a great place to walk around and take in the scenery.

Okay, it's not the World Trade Center in New York and that's not a rocket!

Great building architectures.

16th street.

Look who made it to the top 10 best US cities for singles. Am I a bachelor? Hmmm.... Hahaha!

Coors field- Home of the Rockies!
Di po ako suplado. Mahiyain lang.

At the hotel.

Good thing that there is free 16th Street shuttle. These special buses stop at every corner of the streets, so you don't have to worry when you're tired.

Cool city night lights.

They also know how to party. Great nightlife!

The only thing I noticed is that Denver is extremely dry, I've been drinking a lot of water during the trip. So it is good idea to drink more water than normal.

Now, who wants to drink cold water (or perhaps a bottle of beer) with me?

The teaching experience

Coldman is not just an ambassador of travel and fun. I have also my staid and serious side, so let me just open up a bit. (I still wanted to be mysterious) This is a boring post so don't be suprised just bear with me.

For once in my life, I happened to experience things that I never expected. Some people are just born teachers. These are the people who teach without any formal background, but instinctively know how to pass on knowledge. And there are those who just suck at it. I missed those teaching days . Informally though. Informal because I'm not officially employed as a teacher. I've been invited as lecturer, resource person, speaker and such. I have given seminars and talks and facilitated in other educational endeavors. It's fun. It's doesn't hurt to get paid for it either.

I started giving seminars and lectures from the city to the provinces as early after I finished my degree from the University. Soon, I was called to teach in a Review Center. At first, I was hesitant to accept the job but soon I agree to take the part-time job without conflicting my schedule with my full time work . Honestly, I was nervous during my first day of teaching. Perhaps it is quite intimidating that some of my students are older than me and some of them are my former classmates. But I think I survived smoothly in my first class . As much as possible, I don't want them to feel the boredom of studying. Who wants a boring professor anyway?! So I cracked corny jokes (like what I'm doing in this blog) and the big bonus is that they have a handsome teacher. Yeah, that's me. ( just kidding! ) Sorry, pero mabenta pa rin sila! It was fun though , those simple interactions made them awake and more attentive.

But then, the business of teaching isn't all work. "Teaching is twice learning" is an adage that holds true for me. It seems that I get more out of what I’m teaching than what I’m giving. For me it is very stressful- physically and mentally. Well, how can you teach a certain subject in 8 hours when you know the fact that you have studied it for 6 months or so. Masakit nga sa ulo! But if you can do it efficiently, it's very worthy.

The teaching experience can be profound. It is an opportunity to mold minds and challenge preconceptions and misconceptions. It's also a test of patience and character. Teaching teaches you to teach.

Communication and feedback are also essential indicators that the flow of information is stable, that the correct information is being given and received. One of the feedbacks that I heard that made me smile - "si Sir ang pangit ng sulat, ang hirap basahin"! Pero totoo naman yun!Hahaha! If you don’t get the reaction you want, chances are you probably didn't communicate your instructions and expectations properly ... Sounds like Effective Corporate Leadership and Management to me.

As I always say to my students- Failure will not overcome me to succeed, if my determination is strong enough. Woah! I missed those teaching days, tiring but self-fulfilling.

NBA ba kamo?

As promised, I went to the Nuggets game last Friday. Good thing I was okay before we leave.

Look who's watching!

As usual, Iverson and Anthony led the way for the team.

Allen Iverson scored 29 points despite spraining his right ring finger in the first half and the Denver Nuggets snapped San Antonio's 11-game winning streak with a 109-96 statement win over the Spurs. Carmelo Anthony overcame a bad first half to finish with 25 points as the Nuggets won for the 13th time in their last 15 games .

Well, despite a 37-24 record, the Nuggets are still on the fringe of the wild Western Conference playoff picture. They remained one game behind Golden State for the eighth spot heading into the final six weeks.

Bad news. I just watched the game last night and the Utah Jazz defeated the Nuggets with a "tambak" 132 -105 score. =(

For the second time, we all headed to ESPN Zone after the game for another great food and fun.

The Royal Gorge Adventure

It's another great cold day in the mountains, yet another coldman adventure! Royal Gorge is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Colorado. It is often called "the Grand Canyon of the Arkansas River" and it's the World's highest suspension bridge, hangs 1 ,053 feet high above the river .

New emo pose! Lol!

Visitors can walk across, drive across, take a ride on the world's longest Aerial Tram (2,200 feet), or go to the bottom on the steepest Incline railway (45 degree angle) .

View from the aerial tram

For the adventurous, there is white water rafting and extreme games, including bungee jumping.
In as much as I would like to try bungee jumping, it really scared me to death. So I decided not to. (Akala ko kaya ko, Putik! sobrang nakakalula!)

For more travel info check their website

Now tell me who's not afraid of bungee jumping?

PS. Di naman ako masyadong obvious na gala?! Lol
