Coldman is not just an ambassador of travel and fun. I have also my staid and serious side, so let me just open up a bit. (I still wanted to be mysterious) This is a boring post so don't be suprised just bear with me.
I started giving seminars and lectures from the city to the provinces as early after I finished my degree from the University. Soon, I was called to teach in a Review Center. At first, I was hesitant to accept the job but soon I agree to take the part-time job without conflicting my schedule with my full time work . Honestly, I was nervous during my first day of teaching. Perhaps it is quite intimidating that some of my students are older than me and some of them are my former classmates. But I think I survived smoothly in my first class . As much as possible, I don't want them to feel the boredom of studying. Who wants a boring professor anyway?! So I cracked corny jokes (like what I'm doing in this blog) and the big bonus is that they have a handsome teacher. Yeah, that's me. ( just kidding! ) Sorry, pero mabenta pa rin sila! It was fun though , those simple interactions made them awake and more attentive.
But then, the business of teaching isn't all work. "Teaching is twice learning" is an adage that holds true for me. It seems that I get more out of what I’m teaching than what I’m giving. For me it is very stressful- physically and mentally. Well, how can you teach a certain subject in 8 hours when you know the fact that you have studied it for 6 months or so. Masakit nga sa ulo! But if you can do it efficiently, it's very worthy.
As I always say to my students- Failure will not overcome me to succeed, if my determination is strong enough. Woah! I missed those teaching days, tiring but self-fulfilling.
For once in my life, I happened to experience things that I never expected. Some people are just born teachers. These are the people who teach without any formal background, but instinctively know how to pass on knowledge. And there are those who just suck at it. I missed those teaching days . Informally though. Informal because I'm not officially employed as a teacher. I've been invited as lecturer, resource person, speaker and such. I have given seminars and talks and facilitated in other educational endeavors. It's fun. It's doesn't hurt to get paid for it either.

The teaching experience can be profound. It is an opportunity to mold minds and challenge preconceptions and misconceptions. It's also a test of patience and character. Teaching teaches you to teach.
Communication and feedback are also essential indicators that the flow of information is stable, that the correct information is being given and received. One of the feedbacks that I heard that made me smile - "si Sir ang pangit ng sulat, ang hirap basahin"! Pero totoo naman yun!Hahaha! If you don’t get the reaction you want, chances are you probably didn't communicate your instructions and expectations properly ... Sounds like Effective Corporate Leadership and Management to me.

i agree.
i really appreciate teachers who make it a point to ensure that their students understand the subject. hindi lang yung basta makapagturo at kumita kada kinsenas. hurray!
pero shocks. na-shock ako sa post na to. i didnt know this side of you.
teaching is indeed tiring but the fulfillment we get out of it ease away all the stress...
mahilig din ako tumanggap ng mga lecture raket not for the money but for the sake of sharing the knowledge and experience I had all these years...hehehe...parang ang tanda ko na tuloy...
Wala. Wala kong talent sa teaching. More of a listener kasi ako. Kaya kakabilib ung mga teachers...
i would want to be a teacher
if i had a chance
:)
mas gusto ko yung ganun
maraming tao
ako ang bida
:)
sir... musta?
my mom teaches too... ang nakakatuwa pa even yung mga students niya when she started teaching are still getting in touch with her, thanking her for good education... that's why im so proud of my mom... :)
i can't teach... mahiyain ako eh hehe
@ mojo potato: good for you at tumatanggap ka ng mga lectures, iba kasi talaga ang feeling pag na invite ka at nakapag share ka sa iba. =)
@ abou: baka akala mo lang yun?! =)
@ xienahgirl: sabi ko nga, mahirap din magturo, pero good thing is college graduate na yung mga tinuturuan ko so mas eager silang makinig. =)
@ kuya krisjasper: nope. Di ako Education graduate, nagturo ako sa Review Center sa mga magta-take ng Board Exam for.... kaya mas ok yung ganun kasi mga college grad na sila, mas madaling kausapin.
But, I have a good job now here. =)
Kudos to your mom. =)
i love teachers
you are a teacher
therefore...
i have to study well :D
im going back to school for my postgrad degree this june. baka pwede ka for one-on-one tutorial.
on teaching, hindi lahat ng magaling ay marunong magturo. i wish meron akong talent sa pagtuturo kagaya mo. marami na akong invitation before to do lectures and teach pero natatakot ako at baka hindi ko ma-meet ang expectations ng students/audience.
ngapala, hindi ko sinabing magaling ako... :D
"teaching is the most noble profession"
nung HS, naging student-teacher ako. wud u believe n chem and tinuro ko? at dun ko nadisocver n di ako pedeng magturo. :D

Nyek! = P
Seriously though, I have to agree with you regarding the fulfillment that we get from teaching. Ako naman, I've been a volunteer for a foundation tutoring streetkids with their academics. But it's very fulfilling because the thought of myself giving somethin' back to the community already refreshes my mind and spirit. Ang sarap ng feeling! = D Teaching is really a very noble profession, so taas kamay din ako sa mga guro. = D
serious mode...
juk lng ulit=]
I'm not much of a talker. Ergo, I think I won't be a good teacher. :)
wait, my all-time favorite teacher doesn't speak well either, but he has a way of explaining things that can make you understand. he's patient, maybe it also helps.
Di siguro ko tatagal kung magtuturo ako. I grow weary and impatient especially pag matigas ang ulo ng tinuturuan.
fabulous pictures and nice read blog. really, really enjoyed the pictures.
@ joyjoy: good thing that you're going back to school.
Trust me.lol
@ cedeux: talaga namang role playing! lol
@ misterhubs: no comment na lang.=)baka sabihing mong mayabang ako. Lol!
@ bob: good thing na sa review center ako nagturo at least mas eager silang makinig dahil lisensya nila yung nakasalalay. =)
one more thing, patient din ako. lol
@ jojie unlimited: thank you for the visit. =) tc
Uy! Naging teacher ka rin pala. Ako kasi, nag full-time dati. 3 years ng pagti-tripping sa mga istudyante. He he.
Hiyay! :-)
wala kasi natutunan mga estudyante ko.waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!
thanks sa laging pagdalaw bro, ingat!
ang galing. nagturo din ako part-time ng accounting at tax sa isang unibersidad. kaya lang sandali lang (mga 3 years lang) kasi nauubos time ko maglibot tsaka marami kasi nagkakagusto sakin estudyante eh, mahina pa naman ako sa tukso. (kapalmuks)
salamat sa link bro.
great teachers make lifelong impressions. ako nga i still remember my favorite teachers from back in high school and college (not too long ago... *cough*).
hehehe you're slowly opening yourself up kuya, i knew you had it in you! deep down i always knew you were a lot more than your gago front... seryoso ka rin pala. you've officially bumped yourself up the hierarchy... seryosong gago ka na. keddeng! haha ang corny ko.
@ davenport: naku, mabilis kang tatanda nyan! =)
@ aryo: tama ka dun, minsan nakaka intimidate yung mga matatanda, sila pa yung matanong. Hahaha! pero okay lang naman. Mas pogi ako dyan. lol
@ kurisujae: at least nakapag turo ka. =)
galeng naman coldman, so many lives u have influnce. ;)
@ josh: dakila talaga?! lol
salamat po. =)
thanks for dropping by bro...
Advance Happy Easter!
@ abad: talaga namang refreshing. O sya, aral mabuti. =)
its always mine dream to be a teahcer. mainly because of the teachers and professors that i have encountered and moved me before...
i must agree that as long as you love and you feel fulfilled on this profession, nothing could be any harder on this profession.
@ wandering commuter: naks naman! very well said. =)
wow, seryoso ang coldman..
ako dati gusto nilang maging teacher ako :)
tawag ko na sau teacher coldman!
@ dakilang tambay: minsan masarap maging seryoso. dyuk. thanks. =)
totally off topic.. saw one of your previous posts... i'll give you a hug! heck! i'll give a hug to anyone who needs it right now! i sure could use one... i feel alone... kakalungkot!
Be happy. =)
tapos sasabihin nya: I want you to follow the comments i have written at the bottom of your paper...
wow an ambassador of travel and fun. what a nice job.
@ chase: oo ba, pwedeng pwede. dyuk lang yun. =)
so anong major mo? at sang review center ka nagturo?
Hahaha! Pero good thing na maayos kang sumulat. =)
